Breathless trains and, worn down glories.
Houses burning, worlds that turn on their own.
1. What does their bedroom look like?
Hm. Probably a distinct mix between messy and clean. And I know that sounds off, but let me explain: there are parts of her room that are obsessively clean, like… her desk, or any place she works. She’s very mentally organized in the work part of her life, but I doubt she, say… every folds her laundry when it’s done. She has one of those pile situations where one pile is dirty, one’s clean, and one could go either way. She doesn’t tuck her sheets into her bed. She doesn’t organize her hygienic junk (deodorant, shampoo, etc. It’s just all over the place).
As far as layout goes, though, I mean… it looks the same as all senior officers’ quarters, save that she probably had a shitton of pillows. May loves pillows. 500 pillows.
12. Favourite book genre?
Historical nonfiction! May gusta weird historic family dramas. She’s also pretty into, like, the Bronte sisters (though she thinks Wuthering Heights is a bore).
She really does enjoy, like, biographies of ancient generals who did dumb shit, though.
19. What do they think about before falling asleep at night?
Mm. Likely whatever happened in the day. She tends to obsess over little details. Plus, I’ve always thought May has something of a sleeping problem. Her brain has trouble shutting off, so she can lie in bed for hours thinking and thinking before she finally drifts off.
21. Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?
The paper would probably end up full of calculation of theories on whatever she was working on recently. That, and some doodles of anyone she sees around. She’s not a great artist, but she can do a mean caricature.
27. Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?
Depending on what part of the timeline this is asked in, the first question has multiple answers. As the site is starting out, probably Fields. Later on, definitely Theo. Much earlier in her like, her twin brother. Nowadays he kind of plays the role of her worst enemy, though, since he’s probably the person who hates her most in the world. SIGH.
41. How misanthropic are they?
…Pretty misanthropic. Not in an obvious way, and not in an outward way, but she’s not really an optimist. She’s very energetic and outgoing, yes, but when the fate of something in her personal life is in question she pretty much always believes the worst outcome is bound to happen. That’s less true when it comes to missions. She can hold onto hope for hours/days/months on that front.
47. How do they express love?
Not very much ever at all. May is an emotional basket case. Friendship is the only thing she’s good at expressing, and anything beyond that will make her freeze up (unless it’s sexual, because she can do sexual). Honestly, the best way she expresses romantic love is by being affectionate in the most distant way possible (like lingering on hugs, or brushing hands when walking side by side). She’s just such a dumb mess, she can’t deal with anything close to relationshippy shippp things.
